CASA 212
Skytraders' two CASA 212-400s are the backbone of Skytraders Antarctic Aviation solution. From October to March the aircraft provide domestic services within Antarctica. These two aircraft are at the leading-edge of cold climate science in Antarctica, providing scientists access to remote outfield locations or providing a viewing platform for aerial survey of wildlife or ice topography. The CASA 212 also provides an airlink between both Australian and International Stations.
Skytraders skis for the C212 were the first to be developed for a transport category aircraft for some 40 years. Design and engineering was completed here in Australia and the STC is issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Australia. Skytraders sees this as essential IP to hold both Australia and Skytraders at the forefront of cold climate aviation and World’s Best Practice.
These state of the art platforms were specially built for Skytraders Antarctic program by the Airbus Military division of the European Aerospace giant EADS. They capture the latest in design technology which combines with certification for high altitude operations that ensures the industry’s highest possible safety standards.
Outside of Antarctic Operations these aircraft are available, whether on skis or wheels, for ad hoc charter or longer term contract, anywhere in the world, from approximately April to September. They have already provided extensive services to some of Australia’s leading resource companies for Aerial Survey operations.
